Direct Energy Business Extends Relationship with Greater Cleveland Regional Transport Authority via Multi-Year Electricity Contract

Cleveland, OH (April 30, 2014) - Direct Energy Business has extended its relationship with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transport Authority (RTA) via a three-year agreement to serve as its electricity supplier. The agreement, effective June 2014, takes place after the closing of Direct Energy Business' acquisition of Hess Energy Marketing (HEM). RTA has been a Hess natural gas customer for nearly nine years.

"RTA was seeking a low, competitive power price and long-term budget certainty, which we were able to secure," said Derrick Maschoff, midwest sales, Direct Energy Business. "Now that Direct Energy Business sells both power and gas to the customer, we have deepened and strengthened our relationship with this important customer."

RTA selected the power contract through a competitive solicitation process, which included lowest cost as a factor.

"We are happy to have been able to extend our relationship with RTA to include power," said John Leonard, senior business development manager, Direct Energy Business. "This deal is a great example of our ability to bundle multiple services and add value to our customers. We're excited about expanding our footprint in electric markets throughout Northeastern Ohio."
