Direct Energy Announces New Agreement with Unifor Local 975

Toronto, ON (May 2, 2014) - Direct Energy is pleased to announce that a new three-year collective agreement has been ratified by members of Unifor Local 975. Both parties have been in formal negotiations for the past two months and reached a tentative agreement on April 23, 2014.

"The ratification is a strong signal from all my colleagues in Local 975 that they believe in our growth strategy that puts the customer first and delivers on our customer service promise," said Mike Ahearne, vice-president, Canada Homes Services. "Both Local 975 and Direct Energy negotiating teams put in many long days and hours of bargaining and they should be commended for the work they did to come to an agreement that will benefit both the organization and employees very well."

The deal covers more than 500 Direct Energy Home Services employees in Ontario, including clerical and operational employees and technicians providing plumbing, water heater, heating, ventilation and air conditioning services.

"In an industry that has seen competitors struggle, innovative companies grow, and consumers being more cost conscious and looking for providers that will be there when they need them, this agreement sets us up for continued success and a workforce that is striving towards a common goal; customer service excellence," said Ahearne.
