Direct Energy to present at 9th Annual Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer

20-25% of homeowners in U.S. broadband households are interested in bundling home & energy services

Direct Energy’s director of marketing strategy Jayesh Shah will participate as a speaker at the 2018 Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer, held February 19-21 at the Omni Downtown in Austin, Texas. Shah will participate in the session “Innovation in the Smart Home Market” on Wednesday, February 21st at 8:45 am CST.

The interactive panel session, moderated by Brad Russell, Research Director, Connected Home, Parks Associates will examine innovation in the smart home market and strategies that leverage the installed base of smart thermostats and the broader smart home to drive consumer participation in DR programs.

This year’s Smart Energy Summit agenda focuses on strategies for consumer engagement in the expanding market for energy solutions, including connected devices, energy management, utility services, and home control platforms and services. The Summit will examine the changing role of utilities and energy providers and new opportunities to empower consumers with smart solutions to save energy in the home.

“Energy providers are expanding their service offerings to include energy monitoring and energy management services, and some are moving aggressively into many adjacencies, including home services, security, and smart home solutions,” said Tom Kerber, Director, IoT Strategy, Parks Associates. “The 2018 Smart Energy Summit will examine how new partnership opportunities, innovations in energy management, and new business models can create added value for the consumer.”

“Over the last several years, we have seen a shift in the strategy of electricity companies towards renewables, gas, flexible generation, and closer customer relationships. We’ve also seen electricity companies moving beyond just offering energy services, said Jayesh Shah, Director of Marketing Strategy at Direct Energy. “Direct Energy is at the forefront offering new energy management services and enhanced solutions to bundle with their energy plans like home warranties and protection plans in addition to smart home tools and devices.”

During his session, Shah will discuss the positive uptick in consumer interest in adoption of smart home services and home warranty solutions when bundled with electricity and/or natural gas plans.
