My20Your20 – Make Kindness Contagious for Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and a perfect reminder to take care of ourselves and others. Mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and wellbeing and one thing we can do to help everyone is be kinder. The last few months have no doubt impacted everyone’s mental health, and it’s been refreshing to see how the pandemic has led to some great initiatives to support each other and our mental health.

At Direct Energy, we are embracing Mental Health Awareness Month for the entire month of May, and hopefully beyond. We will spend time focusing on kindness, positivity and gratitude. Research has shown prioritizing these areas can have a lasting impact on our overall sense of mental wellbeing and even improve our physical health.

To focus on the positive in 2020, we’ve created the “My20Your20” wellness challenge across North America to encourage employees to incorporate wellness activities into their daily routines. To participate in the “My20Your20” challenge, employees can do 20 of something to promote Physical Wellness, Mental Wellness, Community Wellness/Acts of Kindness. The goal is to share pictures and inspiring stories of our wellness acts and encourage our colleagues to do the same.

It’s more important than ever to focus on your health and wellness. It’s time to get inspired and make kindness contagious in May!
