Direct Energy's Residential Energy and Upstream and Trading businesses are currently based in Houston and the company has more than 2000 employees across Texas. The company, whose Corporate offices have been located in Toronto, Ontario since 2000, expects the relocation to be completed in the next 12 to 18 months. Direct Energy customers in Ontario will experience no disruption or change to their services or products as a result of today's announcement. Direct Energy's Services, Commodity Sales and Upstream Energy operations in Alberta and other provinces in Canada will also be unaffected. The relocation of Direct Energy's headquarters in no way affects the company's commitment to customers in Ontario, who will continue to be supported by a large employee base in the province, and more broadly across Canada.
