Direct Energy Named The New Energy Supplier For Rhode Island Cities And Towns

Providence, Rhode Island (9/15/2011) - Direct Energy, one of North America's largest energy and energy-related services providers, has recently been named the new energy provider for the Rhode Island Energy Aggregation Program (REAP). REAP, organized by the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns (the League), is a consortium of thirty-six Rhode Island cities and towns which was founded to enable its members to purchase electricity and other energy related services from energy power suppliers at the lowest possible prices and with the highest quality of service. For the next three years, members of REAP will be able to take advantage of competitive products and energy plans that Direct Energy offers to its customers.

As an energy expert, Direct Energy understands the importance of a customized energy plan, and under its partnership with the League, each member community will now have a uniquely customized supply option rather than all members receiving their supply at the same price and for the same period of time, as had been the case since 1999. Now, by choosing from an array of supply, price and contract duration options, members are able to choose the energy strategy they believe will be the most beneficial for their community.

"We are thrilled to be the energy provider for Rhode Island communities", said Mike Senff, Vice President Direct Energy. "By offering customized energy plans for all members, Direct Energy is helping communities maximize on their energy usage profile, and receive the best energy plan for their money."

REAP members will have the opportunity to learn about the products and plans offered at Direct Energy on Thursday, October 6th, at an informational session conducted by the League and Direct Energy. The session is for all cities and towns and will explain the benefits of the new program, the options members will have and how they can continue to reap the benefits of being a part of REAP.

"The League spent a considerable amount of time and resources over the past seven months to select the best company to ensure that all REAP members will receive the lowest possible prices for energy and energy related services", said Dan Beardsley, Executive Director of the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns. "The League and its team of expert energy consultants are 100% confident that Direct Energy is the best energy provider for REAP and its members and this partnership will result in substantial energy cost savings for our members."
